We All Own The Sky – The Button Factory Dublin

Posted on 23 Sep 2020

Continuing the series from the Button Factory Dublin, here’s We All Own The Sky. I had the privilege of singing this one again for my Lutheran friends in a wonderful zoom event. We had an International service which tackled the Climate Change Crisis with St. Finians Lutheran Church of Dublin, Ireland, University Lutheran Chapel of Berkeley, California, a Catholic priest Fr. Dermot Lane and myself here in Detroit.
I’m not a religious person but I do respect that religions have an important role in society and so I was happy to collaborate because we all need to reconsider our place in the world and how we can live in harmony with the Earth.

We All Own The Sky hit home in the last days as the smoke from the California fires created a strange haze in our skies here in Detroit. I found myself looking at a very dim sun low in the sky and looking away quickly realising I shouldn’t look at the sun. Anyways, the core message of this songs is that we are all connected by the the air and the oceans and if we want to have a hope of fixing these problems we need more international co-operation.

We All Own The Sky by Enda Reilly

We all own the Sky

Blue in the day and Black in the Night

We all own the Wind

That blows around the World again

What Have we done to her?

Changing her behaviour.

What can we do for her?

Can we even save her?

Forgive Me Mother Earth

We all own the Seas

Americans and Japanese

We all own the Seas

Indians and Chinese

We all own the Wind

As it blows around the World again

We all own the Wind

European African

What Have we done to her?

Changing her behaviour.

What can we do for her?

Can we even save her?

Forgive Me Mother Earth

Story Through Song Workshop – South Dublin Libraries

Posted on 19 Aug 2020

My latest Songwriting Workshop was my first zoom workshop with a group and we had a very creative bunch of young songwriters who helped me write a fun song from scratch within 2 hours. No mean feat. They did a great job. The workshop was through South Dublin Libraries who are creating plenty of content on their facebook page to keep youngsters entertained.

Our song is called Magical Animals Magic

MAGICAL ANIMALS MAGIC

by Enda Reilly and participants of the Story Through Song Songwriting Workshop Aug 2020

in association with South Dublin Libraries

MAGICAL ANIMALS MAGIC

MAGICAL ANIMALS…

Oh the Pegasus was flying high

When the fox looked up to the sky

And the unicorn sang a song

And the song was very long

But all the animals sang along

I was feeling right at home,

Then I lost everyone I know.

But the zookeeper found a blob-fish,

Who had magic liqourice

He gave me my one wish

Sometimes humans are such a bore,

And I find myself wanting something more.

Magic is where we all thrive

Makes us all feel alive

MAGICAL ANIMALS

MAGIC

We are MAGICAL ANIMALS

MAGIC

Just like Harry Potter magic

Like a Fire-bird born from the ashes

You can’t steal my magical powers

Cause Magic is all around us

Sometimes humans are such a bore,

And I find myself wanting something more.

Magic is where we all thrive

Makes us all feel alive

We are Magic is everywhere

Magic

MAGICAL ANIMALS

MAGIC

Yes

Magic is everywhere

Magic

We are MAGICAL ANIMALS

MAGIC

MAGICAL ANIMALS

MAGIC

We are MAGICAL ANIMALS

MAGIC

Keep a Trickle Flowin walk

Posted on 15 Aug 2020

Well I’m afraid I have to give today’s Live Stream a miss folks.

We are apartment hunting. But I have an Outside Jive for you of me singing Keep a Trickle Flowin. I was on an evening walk during the week and the fountain in the little park was
still trickling which inspired me to start singing. Watch out for the fire flies (The Sparks glowin!) and the deer I met before it got dark by the time I got home. Listen out for crickets and noisy Cicada.

Help me get to 1000 subscribers on youtube by subscribing, ringing the bell and sharing thanks!
