Oxygen 21
Notes:
This is a fun-breathing eco friendly song.
The title comes from the fact that 21% of the air we breathe is Oxygen and it would be a good idea for us to do our best to keep it that way.
Lyrics:
I like air’s ingredients just the way they are.
I like air’s ingredients just the way they are.
Oxygen 21
Oxygen 21
Nitrogen 78
CO2 trace gases Great!
Inhale, exhale,
Inhale, exhale,
I love to breathe, I thank the trees,
Please don’t cut them all down.
Burn the wood,
Burn the coal
Yeah we burn the gas
We burn the oil,
Nuclear could be a saviour,
Or turn snails’ shells triangular.
But what about windmills or the sun’s rays
What about people peddling all day
Yeah what about windmills or the sun’s rays
What about people peddling all day
In gyms around the world
In gyms around the world
In gyms around the world
In gyms all around the world
Oxygen (oxygen) Let’s keep it at 21(21)
Oxygen (oxygen) 21 (21)
Nitrogen 78
CO2 we must abate.
Inhale (inhale), Exhale (exhale)
Inhale (inhale), Exhale (exhale)
I love to breathe, I thank the trees,
So please don’t cut them all down.
Please don’t cut them all down [REPEAT x5]
What about windmills or the sun’s rays
What about people peddling all day
What about windmills or the sun’s rays
What about people peddling for days
In gyms around the world
In gyms around the world
In gyms around the world
In gyms all around the world

Strangers On A Train
Notes:
This song is loosely based on the Alfred Hitchcock Movie… You could be talking to a crazy man!
Lyrics:
“I’ll kill your wife for ya,
If you’ll kill my father for me”,
Said a stranger on a train,
That crazy fools’ game almost destroyed me.
My wife was a cheating liar,
She would’ve had another man’s baby,
She played dirty tricks,
Held me in a fix
Til a stranger set free.
Don’t talk to STRANGERS ON A TRAIN,
Who play that crazy criss-cross game.
Don’t talk to STRANGERS ON A TRAIN,
It’s a dangerous, dangerous game
The stranger stalked and strangled her,
Now the police suspect me,
And the maniac,
Is on my back,
He’s given me his house key.
I’m to go and kill his father,
Or else he’ll have me framed,
But if I do it,
I’ll surely rue it,
Damn that stranger on that train.
Don’t talk to STRANGERS ON A TRAIN,
Who play that crazy criss-cross game.
Don’t talk to STRANGERS ON A TRAIN,
It’s a dangerous, dangerous game
But I must make haste,
Or I’ll be laid to waste,
In a cell on an Isle at sea:
It’s him I’ll kill,
His blood I’ll spill,
With all my will,
Then there’ll be…
No more misery.
Don’t talk to STRANGERS ON A TRAIN,
Who play that crazy criss-cross game.
Don’t talk to STRANGERS ON A TRAIN,
It’s a dangerous, dangerous game
“I’ll kill someone for ya,
If you’ll kill someone for me”,
Said a stranger on a train,
That crazy fools’ game almost destroyed me.
Almost destroyed me.

Hidin’ Away
Notes:
A comforting song in that we all need to get away from hardship and reach a sheltered place sometimes.
It came from the experimentation with two capos on my Taylor guitar.
Lyrics:
What If you were a river,
that never reached the sea
Would you waste all your chances
by crying your water away?
Step aboard my rowboat
and come with me downstream
Flow by green Islands and there you’ll find me
HIDIN’AWAY from Everyday Life
With the sun smiling
The waves laughing
The sun smiling
The waves laughing
With me from close by
What if you were an Eagle,
never learned to fly,
What more could you do
but scream and cry and cry?
Step aboard my rowboat
come with me downstream,
Flow by green Islands and there you’ll find me,
HIDIN’AWAY from everyday life
With the sun smiling
The waves laughing
The sun smiling
The waves laughing
With me from close by

I’m Doin’ Fine Just the Way I am
Notes:
A person power song, not to follow the crowd if you don’t want to.
Lyrics:
Eve is a lonely lady livin’ in town,
All the old women yeah, they gather around,
“Why don’t you go out and find yourself a man?”
She tells them, “I’m doin fine just the way I am
I’m doin fine just the way I am”
My friend Steve has no mobile phone,
Only way to reach him is when he’s at home,
“You’re livin’ in the past” I say, “Get with the plan!”
He says “Hell , I’m doin fine just the way I am
I’m doin fine just the way I am”
So why not let other people do
What they wanna do
If it’s not harming us
Or anyone else
And maybe do a little thinking
We should do a little thinking
About ourselves
I’m doin fine just the way I am
Pat is a poet, sells his books on the street,
He used to be famous, had a show on TV,
People say he’s crazy (I think he’s gone nuts)
He doesn’t give a damn
He tells me,” I’m doin’ fine just the way I am
I’m doin’ fine just the way I am
At least I don’t live with my head in the sand”
So why not let other people do
What they wanna do
If it’s not harming us
Or anyone else
And maybe do a little thinking
We should do a little thinking
About ourselves
I’m doin fine just the way I am
I’m doin fine just the way I am
At least I don’t live with my head in the sand
I’m doin fine just the way I am
I’m doin fine just the way I am

Hear The Cries
Notes:
a stream of conscience rant.
Lyrics:
Feed the cats
Feed the dogs
Leave the rats
Eat the frogs
Breed the bats
Free the swine
Believe the gnats
Heed the lion
Fly the kite
Be a bus
Live a lot
Make a fuss
Kick a bear
Don’t bear all
Wear a dictionary
to the ball
Hit the head
Nail me down
Feel the pulse
Slow slow down
Drop the line
Line them up
Bridge a gap
Pick a pup
Laugh a mound
Breeze for you
Bring a friend
Crash for two
Be a bitch
Blame your lies
Kill a man
Hear the cries
Cry aloud
Loud is vale
Valleys fall
into the dale
Both are brilliant
Brilliant luck
Look for peace
Find a nut (find a nut)
Find a nut, find a nut…
In a house
In a hut, In a hut
In a house, In a hut

Nut in the Hut
Notes:
Poking fun at the insecurities of a creative musician. .
Lyrics:
I am the nut in hut
I’ve lived here for all time
Stuck in a bit of a rut
Drinking sandy wine for dinner
There’s a man in a hut
He’s a bit of a nut
Spends days listening
And his nights writing
He drinks beer for breakfast
Porridge for his supper
He beats a drum
At four a.m.
I am the nut in hut
I’ve lived here for all time
Stuck in a bit of a rut
Drinking sandy wine for dinner
Yes the man in the hut
Wears no shoe on his foot
When he walks on jagged stones
By the desert lake of bones
Oh he scuttles and he scurries
And he bottles up his worries
And he falls to his knees
Knows not what he believes
I am the nut in hut
I’ve lived here for all time
Stuck in a bit of a rut
Drinking sandy wine
My name, my name
Was all in vain
I cast it aside
Now I’m the flowing tide
I drink beer for breakfast
Porridge for me supper
I beat a drum
At four a.m.
I am the nut in hut
I’ve lived here for all time
Stuck in a bit of a rut
Drinking sandy wine for dinner
I, I, I am the nut in the hut
I, I, I am the nut in the hut
I, I, I am the nut in the hut
(in the hut, in the hut) [REPEAT]
I am the nut in the hut
(in the hut, in the hut) [REPEAT]
Nut in the hut
(in the hut, in the hut) [REPEAT]
I am the nut in the hut
(in the hut, in the hut) [REPEAT]
I am the nut in hut
I’ve lived here for all time
Stuck in a bit of a rut
But tomorrow I’ll be fine
I promise, I promise
I promise, I promise
I promise

I’m Not Crazy
Notes:
The victim of a hurricane decides to stay with his house instead of evacuation and ponders his sanity.
It was written after Hurricane Caitriona about people who choose to confront rather than avoid the forces of nature.
Lyrics:
The news came today
The storm is on its way
Yes the storm is on the sea
The storm on the sea
And it’s coming after me
It’s coming after me
Yeah, the wind it blows
The wind it blows
And God only knows
God only knows why
Everybody’s leavin’
Everybody’s leavin’ my neighbourhood
Everybody’s leavin’
Everybody’s leavin’ it don’t look good
It don’t look good
Don’t look good
They all think I’m mad
Think I’m bloody mad, I’m insane
I’M NOT CRAZY
They all think I’m mad
Think I’m bloody mad, I’m insane
I’M NOT CRAZY
Tide is on the rise
Tide is on the rise
Darkness in the skies
Darkness in the skies
Yes I’m a fighting man
I’m staying wear I am
Yeah, the wind it blows
The wind it blows
And God only knows
God only knows why
Everybody’s leavin’
Everybody’s leavin’ my neighbourhood
Everybody’s leavin’
Everybody’s leavin’ it don’t look good
It don’t look good
Don’t look good
They all think I’m mad
Think I’m bloody mad, I’m insane
I’M NOT CRAZY
They all think I’m mad
Think I’m bloody mad, I’m insane
I’M NOT LEAVIN’
You know I’m not crazy
You know I’m not crazy
You know I’m not crazy
You know I’m not crazy
I’m just staying at home
At home, at home

The Open Highway
Notes:
The Open Highway was inspired by equal measures of using a strange guitar chord and getting over an infatuation… or not…
Lyrics:
“Dry your eyes my friend”, she said
“Take a stroll along the open highway
to where the lonely people go
when they don’t know where they’re going.”
And all the people travel on til when
Their lives find some meaning
And in the night I see her face again
But I don’t wanna lose that meanin’
No I don’t wanna lose that feelin’
Oh, I’ll take heed of what she said,
Of what she said, what she said
“So why don’t you try to forget me
and carry on with your short life,
for we are all so young and free
we have no cares, no strifes”
What she says it is so right
But I don’t wanna lose that feelin’
That I found within her eyes
No I don’t wanna lose that meanin’
I don’t wanna lose that feelin’
Oh, I’ll take heed of what she said,
Of what she said, what she said
Yeah, so “Dry your eyes my friend”, she said
“Take a stroll along the open highway
to where the lonely people go
when they don’t know where they’re going.
They don’t know where they’re going.
They don’t know where they’re going.
They don’t know where they’re going.”

Yesterday How I Cried
Notes:
A relationship breaking up slowly=tears song.
Lyrics:
She broke up with me a week ago,
I woke up with her in bed this morning
She broke up with me a week ago,
I woke up with her in bed this morning
Yesterday how I cried
But today I’m cryin’ even more
It’s sad that good things seldom last,
It’s a life-long play with a changing cast.
It’s sad that good things seldom last,
It’s a life-long play with a changing cast.
Yesterday how I cried
But today I’m cryin’ even more
Well it’s all messed up now
It’s time to give it up now
I do, I do
I think I’m using you
But I thought that you were using me too
Yesterday how I cried
But today I’m cryin’ even more
Even more
Even more

Chance 3
Notes:
3rd chance wasn’t lucky, so no more chances left.
Lyrics:
Such a hollow feeling
I have in my breast
I didn’t tell you my feelings
Because of stupidness
You will see
If I show you the real me
But it’s all f*cked up now
And that was Chance 3
I’ve since stopped believing
This age-old fallacy
Of our child-like notion
That we were meant to be
You don’t see
But you still torture me
But it’s all f*cked up now
And that was Chance 3

Why Can’t We Live In Peace?
Notes:
Social commentary on the warring nature of humans… Deep.
Lyrics:
For peace sake
We should love not hate,
End all the wars
And stop the needless waste,
And I hope it’s not too late.
We should learn
From mistakes of the past,
Let’s not use God
As a means to make war last.
Despite famine and disease
We’re still filled with lust and greed,
Why can’t we make it cease?
Why can’t we live in peace?
I hear you say,
“We’re all full of greed and hate,
There’s always been war,
And it’s always gonna be this way.”
Despite famine and disease
(despite famine and disease)
We’re still filled with lust and greed,
(filled with lust and greed)
Why can’t we make it cease?
(why can’t we make it cease?)
Oh why can’t we live in peace?
For peace sake
We should love not hate,
End all the wars
And stop the needless waste
And I hope it’s not too late
And I hope it’s not too late
For the human race.

Henry
Notes:
A modern misadventure…
Lyrics:
HENRY was a boy, who lived in school,
He faked to make all the teachers drool,
He tried so hard to please them,
It wasn’t good,
For no one helped him to stretch his mind,
He was born at the wrong time,
His thoughts were full of blood,
Teachers didn’t teach what they should.
He said, “All the dreams in my life
Seem so far from me,
I’ve gotta get away,
I’m gonna get away,
I’ve got to get away from here!”
HENRY, HENRY,
What are you gonna do?
Don’t spend your life feeling like
Somebody else’s fool.
HENRY, HENRY,
What are you gonna do?
Don’t spend your life feeling like
Somebody else’s fool
You’re not somebody else’s fool.
Well HENRY had a girl within this school,
She was lovely, she was cool,
He tried so hard to please her,
It wasn’t good,
For she had been known to run, jump and fly,
To leave him on the ground with a jealous sigh,
She loved like a river in flood,
He was left to wallow in the mud.
He said, “All the dreams in my life,
Seem so far from me,
I gotta get away,
I’m gonna get away,
I’ve got to get away from here!”
HENRY, HENRY,
What are you gonna do?
Don’t spend your life feeling like
Somebody else’s fool.
HENRY, HENRY,
What are you gonna do?
Don’t spend your life feeling like
Somebody else’s fool.
So Henry got the call to fight a war
Like his father years before,
His country needed bodies
It wasn’t good
Who will care if he lives or dies?
He’s a hero to his own demise,
He’d come back if he could,
But he lies dead in red mud
He said, “All the dreams in my life,
Seem so far from me,
I gotta get away,
I’m gonna get away,
And I’ve got to get away from here!
Got to get away from here!”
HENRY, HENRY,
What are you gonna do?
Don’t spend your life feeling like
Somebody else’s fool.
HENRY, HENRY,
What are you gonna do?
Don’t spend your life feeling like
Somebody else’s fool,
Cause you’re not somebody else’s fool.
