So you can pre-order the album now in the Albums section of the website. Here I am explaining what the album’s all about and singing a song (Buachaill ón Éirne) from it. If you are a Shpotifyer then pre-save the album here https://distrokid.com/hyperfollow/endareilly/whisperings
It’s Easter Saturday morning and I’m taking 12 white eggs off the boil here in Michigan getting ready for decorating eggs with family later today. I just released my version of The Foggy Dew yesterday. As it’s a song that commemorates those who fought for Irish freedom over 100 years ago I thought it apt to get it out this weekend. Sinéad O Connor and the Chieftains have a wonderful version but it was Corkman and friend from Lazy Band days, Jack McCarthy who sang it in Dublin that familiarized me with it. During covid lockdown Live Stream sessions it was requested quite a bit mainly by Rory in California and also I was heavily advised to sing the “Back through the Glen” last verse which rounds the story out nicely. I also had the opportunity to visit Kilmainham Gaol a few months back which really brought home the complicated nature of the rebellion. So whether you’re enjoying real or chocolate eggs today or tomorrow take a minute to think of events in Ireland 100years ago which have made us the Irish people we are today.
