BBC Blas Ceoil Agallamh – Interview

Posted on 11 Jan 2021

Craoladh an comhrá seo le Caoimhe ní Chathail ar Blas Ceoil BBC Uladh ar an gcéad lá den bhliain seo 2021. Tá an-shuim ag Caoimhe i gcumadóirí amhráin sa ghaeilge. Súil agam go dtaitníonn an aggallamh libh. Le linn an seó chloisfidh tú Cuir an Long Ag Seol, Bíodh Áilleacht Ann, Mol An Aimsir agus Amhrán an Béar Bán.

This conversation with Caoimhe Ní Chathail was broadcast on BBC Ulster’s Blas Ceoil on the first day of this year 2021. Caoimhe is very interested in composers of songs in Irish and we had a great chat. I hope you enjoy the interview. During the show you will hear Cuir an Long Ag Seol, Bíodh Áilleacht Ann, Mol An Aimsir and the Polar Bear Song in Irish.

It’s New Years Day!

Posted on 1 Jan 2021

Happy New Year everyone. I’m reminded of this song I wrote quite a while ago. Two versions of it here from the same magical room. One with the great band I had at the time (audio only) Live in Bewleys Cafe Theatre and the other a solo video version in the same room empty, which resonates a bit differently due to the year we have had with empty venues. I guess it’s a song of hope. Two lost souls finding each other and the potential for that to spark into something meaningful for both. Thanks to Gary Raymond on percussion, Rama Block on bass and Eimear Lynch and Cathy McEvoy on fiddles; all wonderful musicians and people. Also many thanks to Ruairí Galavan for creating the video version doing all the creative and technical stuff himself. Great work.
