Album Launch – Seoladh
Posted on 2 Mar 2014
I’m delighted to be launching the Album New Songs In Irish. It will be available from Bandcamp (physical CD and Digital) from the 10th March via www.endreilly.com. The official album launch gig will be in Bewley’s Cafe Theatre, Grafton St, D2 on the 14th March, doors 8:30pm, tickets €8 at the door.
So I’ve been writing songs in Irish for the last few years and getting some airplay on RTE Raidio Na Gaeltachta (mainly Rónán Beo@3) with them. I decided it was time I put together a collection of the Irish songs I’ve written in Amhráin Nua i nGaeilge. Being interested in co-writes through many IMRO songwriters weekends and workshops over the years, I wanted to get a few co-writes in Irish onto the album, and I think they are among the strongest on it. I’m delighted to have a song with the legendary Gabriel Rosenstock who wrote the words to Éireoidh Grian and to have Ag Ól Ag Ól Ag An Garbhóg, a collaboration with Pearse McGloughlin on the album. The third co-write, (A real tearjerker) Do Mhuirnín Ó was written with Aisling Kavanagh and performed as a duet with Aoife Scott. The album was recorded mainly in my apartment, I produced and mixed it myself, and it was mastered in MSB Mastering. I hope it’ll help more people engage with Irish. It’s been a great songwriting journey to the other side of my brain!”
