It's New Years Day

Posted on 28 Dec 2009

Here’s an original demo of “It’s New Years Day” that I recorded early in January 2009. It has since gotten a re-write

but here’s how initially came out. There’s Live Versions still available in the Live Download section. Happy New Year!

It’s New Years Day

I stop in the middle of my hometown

To take a random look around

A man on the corner starts to shout

He needs something to write about

A girl in the churchyard crys on her knees

She needs someone to hear her pleas

And it’s New Years Day x4 or 8

The red man walks across the street

The green girl stands up shy and meek

They chat for a minute and start to smile

And sit upon a white bench for a while

She talks and he writes with glee

then they sit in silence, contentedly

And It’s New Year’s day

I stop in the middle of my hometown

To take a random look around

And It’s New Year’s day
